Norris and Piastri may have different strategies, but under one condition

In Hungary, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri followed a different were on different strategies. Ultimately, the Briton crossed the finish line in first place, marginally ahead of his teammate.
The two McLaren drivers qualified in the order of Piastri and Norris behind Charles Leclerc for the Hungarian Grand Prix.
The Australian completed a two-stop race, while Lando Norris stayed out longer on his first stint, and did a one-stop strategy.
Andrea Stella, the team principal of McLaren, reflected on the two drivers having different strategies. “We are McLaren Racing. We bring the value of racing into Formula 1. So we want to give great racing for F1,” he began to GPblog among others.
“We want to give our two drivers the possibility to utilise, express their talent, pursue their aspirations, their personal success. And this is what happened within the boundaries of the team interest and the fairness, the sportsmanship, and the respect for one another.”
“For me this is what I see. When we have a deviating strategy, when we have different options, I think this is part of racing,” the Italian explained.

McLaren drivers are allowed to race on a different strategies under one condition

There is only one condition to using different strategies at the Woking-based team.
"We want to make sure that none of the drivers is surprised and I think none of the drivers was surprised," he explained.
“So far I can only be very grateful to the way Lando and Oscar have interpreted the way we go racing as a team, as a group, which include the drivers, and I'm sure this is going to be the same until the end of the season,” the McLaren team principal concluded.
Entering the summer break, Piastri leads in the drivers' standings. The Australian is currently nine points ahead of his teammate.
