No new engine for Verstappen: 'That wouldn't be good for us'

Max Verstappen will drive in Saudi Arabia and Abu Dhabi 'just' with the same Honda engine. The Dutchman states that he would not benefit from changing to a new engine.
In the past week, it was rumoured that Honda would consider doing a 'Mercedes'. Mercedes took out a fresh engine in Brazil, set it to the highest setting and secured victory. With a grid penalty of only five places that is possible, but at Red Bull Racing they opt for a different approach.

No new engine for Verstappen

The Honda engine would not be able to deliver the same top performance as the competitor's engine, Verstappen explained. ''With a new engine, we will not reach the peak of performance that Mercedes can achieve. A change of engine would therefore not be good for us'', says the Red Bull driver according to Motorsport-total.com.
Verstappen is saying the same thing as Helmut Marko. He said that if they would do it, Abu Dhabi would be the place to do it. Verstappen however thinks that his engine will last until the last race. ''I have no doubt about that. I know what my engine is capable of and normally we should manage with that'', the Limburger concludes.
