Esteban Ocon has made his intentions for the upcoming future crystal clear, insisting he has no intention of giving up despite acknowledging that he currently has no Formula 1 seat secured for next season.
The Frenchman announced a few weeks ago that he would be a free agent for next season, meaning his spell with Haas, which began in 2025, will come to an end at the conclusion of the current campaign. For now, Oliver Bearman remains the only driver confirmed in the team's line-up for next year.
Ocon opens door to different F1 role for 2027
Asked during drivers' press conference in Singapore about his plans for next season and what the future might hold amid the uncertainty surrounding his place on the Formula 1 grid, Ocon reiterated his determination to remain in the sport. The Frenchman made it clear that securing a race seat remains his absolute priority, stressing that he has no intention of giving up on his ambition to compete in F1 for several more years.
"I want to be racing in the Formula One in the next 5-7 years. That's where I want to be. So I will keep pushing to be in that position. So yeah, in the near future, that's the only thing I'm looking at so far."

When asked in a follow-up question whether he would consider taking on a reserve driver role with an F1 team if he were unable to secure a race seat for next season, the Frenchman added: "Yes, if theres no possibility to race next year thats what I will do."

Haas boss Komatsu reveals why Ocon's speed was not enough to save his seat
Last week, Haas team principal Ayao Komatsu addressed the decision to part ways with Ocon, acknowledging the Frenchman's undeniable talent and outright speed while raising concerns about his consistency.
Komatsu highlighted Ocon's strong performances in Budapest, Zandvoort, Madrid and Baku, as well as his ability to make the most of a difficult weekend at Monza, where the car on his side of the garage struggled. The Japanese team boss stressed that Ocon remains capable of delivering at an exceptionally high level when everything comes together, and expressed his determination to finish the season strongly with him.

However, Komatsu also admitted that the Frenchman did not consistently deliver the level of performance Haas expects. While declining to reveal the details of private discussions with the driver, he explained that, after assessing the overall situation, he feels the time is right for a change. Nevertheless, he maintained that there is no question over Ocon's raw speed or his ability to produce outstanding performances under the right circumstances.
