Bobby Epstein a promoter for the United States Grand Prix insists an event in Miami will risk diluting the American fanbase. The Miami race is expected to be on the calendar as early as next season. Space has been made in the schedule, but it's still unconfirmed.
The racing fans out there already have the Mexican Grand Prix to choose between. And this is what Epstein looks at to support his point.
"I think long term it can be good. But there is a risk. There is certainly a risk to diluting the product before the fan base has increased," he told Autosport.
"But when the long-term goal is to increase the fan base, it is a chicken or egg scenario. Which comes first? In the early years, it remains to be seen if that is positive for us."
The Miami Grand Prix is scheduled to take place in October. This bringing the Austin race and Mexican event close together making it even harder for fans to choose.

"We would obviously like to see us separated as far away from other races that are competing for the same fans, so we don't force them to make a choice," he added.
