Mercedes is going to focus on renewable aviation fuel to make F1 carbon-neutral in the future. The German team has announced this in a press release.
Sustainability is a theme that is becoming increasingly important for the future of F1. By 2030, the sport aims to be carbon neutral and thus make a positive contribution to the environment. Following this goal, Mercedes has now made an investment in another business that is important to F1.

Mercedes wants to be a pioneer

Because the F1 teams fly around the world, a lot of ground can be gained. That is why Mercedes has decided to invest in sustainable aviation fuel. In this way, it wants to be a pioneer in F1's carbon-neutral path and the goal is to reduce carbon emissions by 50 per cent by 2026.
''Sustainable Aviation Fuel has the potential to transform the way we travel and the impact that we have on the environment. This is a topic that I think about a great deal personally as well as professionally. I fly a lot; the team flies a lot. If we must fly, then we need to find a better way to do so and SAF is the best solution available to the aviation industry right now. We aim to be on the cutting edge of change, using our global motorsport platform as a model for a more sustainable and diversified future'', Toto Wolff said in the press release.
