After a miserable reunion between both parties, McLaren believes that Honda will find success with Red Bull. The Woking-based outfit cut ties with Honda last season after the historic partnership ultimately led to embarrassing results.
Honda, currently supplying Red Bull's junior team Toro Rosso, will supply engines to the main team in 2019 and 2020. Zak Brown of McLaren assessed Honda's progress and believes that they have made vital progress.
"Honda has clearly taken a step forward this year and learned from the past three years.
"It's a great company and of course they have made progress."
Racing director for McLaren, Eric Boullier told the media last weekend that he felt that without a works partnership, something McLaren gave up by ditching Honda for Renault, it would be impossible to win a championship.

"I think Red Bull is showing that you can win races as a customer, but I think winning a championship is another level -- you need to have a works team status,"
It has prompted questions as to just how poorly McLaren is performing both on and off the track. If Boullier truly believed this then why did McLaren give up on the Honda partnership?
