The second day of the United States Grand Prix continues with the third and final free practice session. Follow the upcoming session live with GPblog below!
For the first time since the 2022 campaign, the Circuit of the Americas will not host a Formula 1 Sprint weekend. This means that instead of the Sprint, today will begin with the third free practice session. Later on, qualifying will follow.
Charles Leclerc topped both sessions on Friday. The Monegasque driver finished less than a tenth of a second ahead of Max Verstappen in FP1, while Kimi Antonelli was just 0.042s off the Ferrari driver's best lap time in FP2. During the second session, Max Verstappen finished third. Lewis Hamilton, who set the fourth-quickest time, was more than six tenths of a second behind Leclerc. The McLaren drivers, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, finished seventh and eighth, respectively, more than a second off the pace.
Leclerc also highlighted two rivals especially despite leading the timesheets during the first day. "I mean, Kimi and Max seem to be very, very strong. The McLaren, I don't really know yet. I don't think they put everything together yet, but Kimi and Max will definitely be up there," he explained. Follow the session below!

Verstappen identifies Red Bull Racing's setup problem after Day 1 at the Circuit of the Americas
After the conclusion of the first day in the United States, Verstappen explained why finding the right setup in Austin is so difficult. He began: "It’s never easy at this circuit to find a good compromise between the car’s setup for the slow and fast corners. The bumpy surface makes it even more difficult."
Red Bull made changes between FP1 and FP2 to improve the balance. "We tried to find a good rhythm and balance in the car. We worked on that between the first and second practice sessions. There’s still some work to do, but it wasn’t a bad start to the weekend," the four-time F1 world champion said.
