Verstappen makes revelation about Red Bull problems: 'It wasn't always easy'

Max Verstappen has spoken to AlphaTauri, Red Bull's clothing brand with which he has partnered, about the problems Red Bull Racing faced last year. He also looks ahead to the upcoming Formula 1 season, in which he will have Liam Lawson as a teammate.

First of all, Verstappen looks back on the 2024 F1 season, which, despite his fourth world title, was anything but easy for Red Bull. "Winning four world titles has been a dream," says the Dutchman in an interview with AlphaTauri. "More than a dream, I’d say. I’m relaxed, I’m just looking forward to seeing how competitive we can be this year. Once you realise how competitive you are, you set a bit of a target, but that’s too early to say."

"We really had to pull it together as a team. Also, from my side, I had to try to overperform a little bit, which is not always the easiest, with so many good Formula 1 drivers. There were a few races where we overperformed, and I think that made the difference at the end of the day in the championship," he adds.

"I’m excited to be working with a new teammate, Liam [Lawson]. I think the whole team is excited and looking ahead to this season. Last year has been challenging at times. Of course we had a lot of good moments, also some tough moments, and I hope we can be a little more stable and a little more all-around throughout the 2025 season," Verstappen concludes.
