The Formula 2 sprint race in Austria was stopped shortly after the start. A hefty crash, involving a driver flipping over, caused a red flag.
The start of the Formula 2 sprint race in Spielberg was initially without significant incidents. Joshua Durksen immediately took the lead from John Bennet. The rest of the field also navigated the first lap well, but on the second lap, an incident occurred at the Turn 3 hairpin.
In a battle for thirteenth place, trouble arose between three drivers. Arvid Lindblad was battling Luke Browning, but at the last moment, Sami Meguetounif dived up the inside. Lindblad did not see Trident driver and turned in. Meguetounif was pitched into a roll and then flipped over, ending upside down on the track.
Due to the incident, neither Lindblad nor Browning could continue. The same applied to Meguetounif's teammate Max Esterson. The American was not involved in the crash, but was blocked by the incident and then stalled his car.
