The Monaco Grand Prix began with a very serious crash by Sergio Perez, caused by a collision with Kevin Magnussen. Red Bull Racing advisor Helmut Marko does not understand anything about the FIA 's decision not to investigate the incident further.

Marko expresses incomprehension with F1 stewards

The stewards decided not to investigate the incident between Perez and Magnussen. In contrast, Esteban Ocon was penalised for causing a collision with his Alpine teammate Pierre Gasly. Marko does not understand why the second incident was investigated, but that the FIA decided so quickly not to look further into the crash between the Red Bull and Haas drivers.
"I was surprised how quickly they ticked off this incident," the 81-year-old Austrian told Sky Sports' German branch after the F1 race. "But unfortunately these are decisions you can hardly influence."
Marko stresses that it is not just about dangerous driving, but that there is another factor at play for Red Bull. "On the one hand there is the danger and on the other hand the damage, which amounts to two to three million. That has a huge effect on our budget cap's ceiling," said a disgruntled Marko.
