Fewer and fewer seats are still free for the 2023 season. At Haas, it is still unclear who will drive next to Kevin Magnussen next year. The current driver, Mick Schumacher, is a candidate, but he is still being kept in suspense by team management.
According to the rumours, Nico Hulkenberg and Mick Schumacher are the main candidates for the seat. Antonio Giovinazzi, who raced during free practice in Austin ánd crashed, would not be a serious option. Schumacher also seemed to be the second choice for a long time, but in recent weeks he has recovered after a difficult start to the season.

Hard to beat

If it is up to his teammate Magnussen, the German will get a new contract. Speaking to Reuters, the Dane says: “Lately he’s been super hard to beat for me. I think, the way he’s driving right now, he definitely deserves a place on the grid. But again, it’s totally out of my hands and I can only sort of wish him well.”
That Schumacher had so many problems and crashes at the start of the season was, according to Magnussen, because the German was struggling with the Haas. Schumacher would also lack self-confidence, Magnussen suspects. Nevertheless, the Dane is still the superior of Schumacher, who finished in the points only twice. Magnussen has got 22 points and Schumacher 12.
