In recent hours, rumours had begun to circulate about a possible delay to the Grand Prix due to construction running behind schedule — speculation that Martínez-Almeida has categorically shut down.
“I don't know where that news comes from, But the circuit is ahead of schedule foreseen in its execution and it goes perfectly and Madrid, despite the reluctance and which bothers some, he's going to have an F1 grand prix, which is going to be one of the best grands prix, if not the best,” he said.
“The sponsors are there, the circuit is running, therefore, I'm sorry, but on September 12 next year there will be Formula 1 in Madrid, which will be a real success.”

Michelangelo García Martín, Minister of the Presidency, Justice and Local Administration of the Community of Madrid, also assured that work is progressing exactly as planned and that Madrid’s citizens can rest easy.
"The people of Madrid can rest assured, the works on the Madring Formula 1 circuit are going at a good pace, each and every one of the works that were planned are being carried out."

Madrid track layout and everything you need to know about 2026 Spanish GP

As has been known for several months, Madrid will make its return to the calendar after more than forty years — more precisely since 1981, when Formula 1 still raced at Jarama.
The Spanish capital will take the place of Imola, which will once again bid farewell to Formula 1 after returning following the outbreak of the pandemic in 2020, leaving Monza as the sole representative of Italy.
The race will take place over the weekend of September 11–13, immediately after the Italian Grand Prix. What about the track layout? Find out more here.
