Sergio Perez has spoken about his exit from Red Bull Racing, branding it "the best thing that could've happened."
"All the drivers that have come and that will come, are going to continue having the same issues because it is a very complex car to drive, and you're constantly having to adapt to Max Verstappen's style."

The Mexican driver was in the eye of the hurricane for four seasons, often being criticised for not being able to match his teammate Max Verstappen's results.
However, with the myriad of Red Bull drivers that have tried his luck only to fail spectacularly, Perez' claims seem to be gaining followers.
After signing his exit from the team the Mexican revealed the sharp remark he told former Red Bull team principal Christian Horner to his face.

Perez warns Red Bull of being Verstappen dependant

"Thank you very much for everything, and I'm very sorry for the driver that comes here, because he's going to struggle a lot," Perez revealed at an Exma event the last words he told Horner after signing his exit from the team after the 2024 season had ended.
"What happened with Red Bull, in the end, I knew was the best that could've happened to me," he added. "Because being at Red Bull under the conditions I was in, was very demanding."
He then warned: "And all the drivers that have come and that will come, are going to continue having the same issues because it is a very complex car to drive, and you're constantly having to adapt to Max Verstappen's style," he concluded.

Perez' warning turned prophecy?

Red Bull Racing trail Mercedes in the Constructor's championship fight for P2, but not to Verstappen's lack of trying, since the Dutchman has scored 366 points for the team in the current campaing. However, the problem lies in the other side of the garage, as Yuki Tsunoda has only managed to score 25 points for the Austrian outfit in 22 races. Have a look at the standings here.
