LIVE | Day one of the 2022 Formula 1 winter test in Bahrain is underway

The second test week of the 2022 Formula 1 season is underway. This time the teams travel to the Bahrain circuit, where one week later the first Grand Prix of the season will also take place. GPblog will keep you up to date all day with the latest developments in our liveblog!

The first test week in Barcelona flew by, but this year the F1 teams will have an extra week to test their new cars because of the new regulations. From March 10 to 12, the second week of testing will take place in Bahrain, and all the action will be broadcast live on various platforms.

According to Helmut Marko, Mercedes will travel to Bahrain with a huge upgrade package. Red Bull themselves will not come with such a large package. Among other things, Mercedes are rumoured to introduce an extreme design of the sidepods.

Overall, we can expect all teams to travel to Bahrain with new parts, and and there will be big differences to notice compared to Barcelona. There was still a lot of uncertainty in the first week, as no one had seen the competition in real life yet. The teams have looked at each other to gain ideas. Haas F1 will have to start the test day a little later. Due to a cargo delay, the team will not be able to get into action until Thursday afternoon. Pietro Fittipaldi gets the honour of getting behind the wheel, but with the official return of Kevin Magnussen, the Dane will take over from him along with Mick Schumacher on Friday and Saturday.
