Lewis Hamilton has been very frank about the current dominance of Max Verstappen and Red Bull Racing. According to the Briton, this is the Dutchman's moment, although he is not giving in easily, he told the BBC in an interview.
Lewis Hamilton is one of the greatest drivers of all time and has impressive records behind his name. With seven world titles and 103 victories, the man from Stevenage is the most successful driver ever in Formula 1. Currently, the Englishman has to make do with an inferior car. For now, the W14 does not have the speed to compete for wins, and the gap between Red Bull, and especially Verstappen, is too big.

'Verstappen is doing better'

Hamilton acknowledges that dominance is now in Verstappen's hands: "I had it, and I was really, really, fortunate to have it here with this team. Michael had it, Seb had it, and now it’s Max’s period." The Mercedes man praised the work of his competitors. "We just did a better job, and that’s where Max is. You can’t take it away from them."
Hamilton hopes the sport changes quickly. "As a sport, we have to have a conversation about how we can set it up to be better for the future so that we have tighter races," he said. The Briton dreams aloud of a battle between Ferrari, Aston Martin, Red Bull and Mercedes.

Eighth world title

The record chaser hopes to turn the tide soon: "There is no telling how that would be. Whether we get the car on the right track and can fight them back next year or whether Ferrari can." But he is not putting that eighth world title out of his mind. "That's still the dream, absolutely."
