Mercedes had multiple engine issues during winter testing but Lewis Hamilton has said that there is a reason for this. The reigning World Champion said that the engine experienced a few issues because they were pushing it to the limit.
"We had a difficult winter last year and I think it has been a difficult winter this year," the reigning world champion tells the press, including GPblog.com.
“There was a time with the V6 engines where we could find more and more power. But in the end, as with everything else, you come across the edge. How much more can we still squeeze out of the engine? How much further can we go?"
“We are now at that peak, where you invest a lot for one kilometer per hour more. But I fully believe in the boys and how they want to develop the engine. Only in terms of reliability are we not yet at the point where we want to be. But I am sure they are working hard at the factory to correct that problem."
Mercedes will hope that they have learned more about their engine and that they don't have any issues when the season starts in Australia.
