Leclerc need not fear: 'He was usually the quickest man there too'

Charles Leclerc was hoping to regain the lead in the World Championship at Monaco, but despite his pole position he failed to grab a podium finish. David Tremayne saw that the Monegasque was disappointed. The journalist writes on Formula1.com that he sees plenty of opportunities for the driver to continue.
Leclerc started the season excellently, immediately gaining the lead in the world championship, but the last races went wrong for the driver. He saw his rival Max Verstappen getting closer and closer and can now even be found in second place, with Sergio Perez right behind him.
Still, Tremayne thinks there is plenty for Leclerc to draw confidence from. "It may be worth mentioning that even the great Jim Clark never won around the streets of Monte Carlo. He was usually the quickest man there, too, yet never got to woo Lady Luck," he let it be known. "But that scant ‘consolation’ most certainly isn’t one that Charles would want to hear right now."

Leclerc had bad luck in 2021 too

Last season, Leclerc had the fastest lap behind his name in Monaco qualifying but drove hard into a wall at the end. His car had so much damage at the time that there was nothing he could do but give up on Sunday.
