Lawrence Stroll has never for a moment been afraid that Adrian Newey would not come to Aston Martin. The co-owner of the British Formula 1 team reveals this. Ferrari also tried to attract Newey, but it was Aston Martin who got the signature.
At this season's Miami Grand Prix, Red Bull Racing announced that Newey was leaving the Austrian racing team after nearly 20 seasons. Since then, rumours had circulated that besides Aston Martin, Ferrari and Williams were also looking to bring in the Brit. Lewis Hamilton - who will drive for Ferrari from 2025 - also announced several times that he would love to work with Newey.

Stroll was convinced of Newey's arrival

"I can tell you Adrian is a bargain. I've been in business for over 40 years now. I've never been more certain. It's not an investment. He's a shareholder and a partner. So it's the best partner I can bring into a company. We intend to be around here for a very long time together. So it's relatively inexpensive for everything Adrian brings in a partnership we will have," Stroll said.
Newey himself also commented on the interest from other Formula 1 teams. "I was very flattered by the number of teams that did approach me and I had discussions with some of those teams, not all of them. But in the end, it became a very clear and the natural choice for all the reasons I stated earlier," Newey said.
