Lando Norris has reacted following his outing at the Dutch Grand Prix. The McLaren suffered an engine failure, which ultimately cost him at least a podium finish. The British driver, who is locked in a championship fight with teammate
Oscar Piastri, appeared to be on the charge to push for the race win when he complained on his radio about smelling smoke from his engine. Soon after, his papaya coloured car would go up in literal smoke, spelling the end of his race.
Norris would subsequently take to social media to air his thoughts on the heartbreaking end to his Zandvoort race. Sharing a photo of himself, he accompanied it with the caption:
“Unlucky today, but that’s life. Will take it on the chin and move on.”
The race at the Dutch dunes was the second DNF of the 2025 season that Lando Norris has suffered.
How Norris’ DNF impacts the 2025 title race with Piastri
The 2025 drivers’ championship is largely a two-horse race between Lando Norris and Piastri, and the engine failure the British driver suffered in Zandvoort has done little to help his quest for a maiden crown.
Norris had headed into the race with a nine-point deficit to his teammate, but left the race with a 34-point gap to first place, and with only nine races till the conclusion of the 2025 campaign.
