Magnussen believes he's ready for a top seat

Kevin Magnussen says that he does not want to stay in the midfield for his entire career, adding that he is one of a few drivers who deserve a shot at the top seat in F1.
The Dane raced for McLaren in his first season in 2014, but they were no longer a winning team by then, and he found himself on the sidelines in 2015 as Fernando Alonso joined Jenson Button.
Since then, Magnussen has raced for Renault and Haas, without troubling the podium positions, something he is seemingly frustrated by.
He told BT newspaper in Japan: “I feel that I am in the queue of drivers who deserve a seat in a top team.
“But what you feel is not so important. The only thing I can really do is deliver, and then trust that the people around me can open some doors. I’m only 27 so I think I am at the right age and experience."

Magnussen is contracted to Haas for 2020, but says that he would consider looking elsewhere for the following season: “I would like to sit in the best possible seat for 2021. I’m open and relaxed about it. It’s not something I’m thinking about right now. But I do need to think about it eventually.”
