'It's a shame someone with so much talent hasn't been able to get the results'

Romain Grosjean leaves Formula 1 with his head held high. The Frenchman has not been able to end his career as he had hoped, but he is still alive and very proud of his achievements in recent years.

In 2009, Romain Grosjean made his debut in Formula 1 for Renault, replacing Nelson Piquet junior. In 2010, however, he made his fulltime debut for Lotus in 2012. For that team, he got on the podium ten times. Things went downhill at Haas, but Grosjean still believes in his own abilities.

''I didn't do everything perfectly, but if I had had a good car, I could have won races and maybe even the championship. I still think I'm one of the fastest on the track, but that's hard to show with the car we had. If you drive a good race, you become P12, 13 or 14 and nobody talks about it," Grosjean said before the weekend of his crash opposite The Race.

His engineer at Haas, Atao Komatsu, also believes strongly in Grosjean's speed. ''Everyone sees his natural speed, but everyone also recognises his lack of consistency and the lack of progress due to emotional issues. It's a shame that someone with so much natural talent hasn't been able to achieve more results,'' Komatsu emphasizes Grosjean's pure talent.
