Kimi Antonelli was praised across Europe after the Miami Grand Prix. With his third consecutive victory, the Mercedes prodigy now leads George Russell by 20 points in the drivers’ standings.

The Spanish newspaper also highlighted the lead Antonelli has built over the past three races, echoing the views of the British media. They write: "The 19-year-old Italian continues to extend and expand his dream, now with 100 points in the World Championship standings, 20 ahead of Russell, who finished fourth and who has seemed bewildered by his teammate's recent surge. Kimi is growing bolder and building a lead that could be very difficult for George to overcome without mechanical failures or accidents. Italy's F1 celebrations continue."

La Gazzetta dello Sport

Italy’s F1 celebrations are reflected in La Gazzetta dello Sport, which also praised its prodigy. The newspaper wrote that, despite not having the fastest car, Antonelli once again secured victory, cementing his place in this year’s title fight.

"The strongest driver is Italian, and now we can officially dream: Kimi Antonelli also won the Miami GP, and there's no longer any doubt that the 19-year-old from Bologna is more in the running than ever for the 2026 World Championship. Kimi's performance was a feat built in the manner of the greats—namely, victory without having the fastest car. This weekend marked the return of McLaren, which yesterday won the Sprint with Lando Norris and today placed the world champion and Oscar Piastri on the podium."

The German newspaper was amazed by Sunday's race, which was moved forward by three hours. "This race would have been a real nail-biter even without the rain chaos. Kimi Antonelli won the Miami Grand Prix! The 19-year-old extends his lead in the championship to 20 points. Teenage madness at Mercedes."
Moreover, they were also surprised to see Verstappen spin alone on the opening lap. "Then the next shocking moment: Verstappen spun without any contact from another car."
