Hulkenberg gets new title: 'You can say whatever you want'

Nico Hulkenberg managed to reach Q3 six times already this season. He even grabbed P2 during qualifying in Canada.

In an interview with Viaplay, Hulkenberg is labelled the 'qualifying king'. "You can what you want obviously," says the German. He even managed to beat Sergio Perez six times in qualifying.

Besides getting good results, Hulkenberg thinks the experience of qualifying also comes into play. "It’s super intense because it’s a little bit rush too," he says.

Hulkenberg: "You go out, fast lap, you have traffic. You need to monitor many things. You come back in, quick chat with your engineer, maybe adjust things and go back out." He describes it as very dynamic and intense.

The German believes there are still some things to improve during the race: "Sundays we have not been performing so good."According to him, they lost a lot during the race because of the aerodynamics. This causes a lot of grip to be lost when they are too close behind another car. "We need to fix that by developing the car," says Hulkenberg.

For now, he is still enjoying his career. "My biggest goal is to keep having fun." He definitely expects to still be there next year. "There is no reason to think this would be any different," says Hulkenberg.
