Nico Hulkenberg is comfortably beating his Spanish teammate Carlos Sainz Junior in the standings, as Sainz has only collected one point in the first two races of the season compared to Hulkenberg's fourteen.
The German has finished sixth and seventh compared to Sainz's tenth and eleventh, beating Sainz in qualifying too on both occasions.
"It's a nice bonus, but we've just raced two races, 19 are still pending, it was cool to have beaten him last week, but this brings me nothing this week ", the German said.
"Yes, sometimes you have a difficult start to the season, I do not know exactly how he felt or why he had problems.
"But I'm in good shape and it's also difficult to beat me.
"Of course I want to beat my teammate, but it's not my top priority.
Both Sainz and Hulkenberg gave the same kind of feedback on the car, which was that the balance was off in Bahrain but much better in Australia, and the team look to improve back to that level.
"We had difficulties with the balance, so I was not happy with the car."
Can Hulkenberg hold on for another top seven finish? And will Sainz finally come out of his shell?
