Lewis Hamilton has apologized to Max Verstappen after calling him a "such a d*ckhead" on live tv last weekend after the Bahrain Grand Prix, perhaps not knowing that a camera was recording him.
Hamilton revealed that during yesterday's autograph session in Shanghai, he shook Verstappen's hand and made amends with the Dutchman.
"I said 'Look, I'm sorry about what I said after last race'," Hamilton said.
"You have to show respect, especially since I'm the older driver.
"I felt that I had to go to him and say that.
The reason for Hamilton lashing out at Verstappen in the first place is because of an attempt by the Dutchman to overtake Hamilton in the second lap, which led to the two cars colliding.
Hamilton's Mercedes was fine, but Verstappen broke his differential and punctured his tyre, and had to call it a day three laps later.
After the race, Hamilton walked past a screen showing the collision between the two, looked at it and said "such a d*ckhead".
