Hulkenberg excited to partner up with Ricciardo in 2019

Nico Hulkenberg says he is looking forward to partnering Daniel Ricciardo at Renault in 2019. The German believes that the arrival of his new teammate will lead to an increased level of performance as Renault continue to make strides to a race-winning car.

Speaking to the media ahead of the Belgian Grand Prix, Hulkenberg said he was going to enjoy the challenge that Ricciardo will pose him next season.

“For me it’s good news. I was happy with Carlos (Sainz) but I’m happy with any team mate," he told RaceFans.net.

“Obviously bringing in a driver like Daniel shows that Renault’s serious. It also puts a bit of pressure on them to deliver a good car, bringing a multi-grand prix winner. It’s only positive.

“I think everywhere it was received very well, in the factory as well as in Viry. It shows the employees as well the seriousness, that Renault wants to really move to the front of the field that they want to be back in form competing for victory.
