As Williams announced the signing of Mercedes junior George Russell today, some of the Formula One drivers took to their social media to congratulate the Brit on his promotion from F2, where he is likely to win the championship.
He won't be the only rookie next season, as fellow Brit and Formula 2 driver Lando Norris will also be making his debut in F1 for McLaren, with the teenager replacing the departing Stoffel Vandoorne there.
Norris was one of the drivers to congratulate Russell on his promotion, as was Esteban Ocon, who showed a real touch of class by congratulating Russell despite the difficult situation he is in himself, as he likely won't have a seat next season now.
The other drivers who reached out to congratulate Russell on his promotion were Romain Grosjean, Sergio Pérez and Carlos Sainz, three drivers who he might be battling next season if Williams can make a leap in performance under the new regulations.
