The Formula 1 summer break is underway, which means there’s little to no action on the track. So what actually happens during this time? What’s allowed and what’s not? We could write a lengthy article about it, but Valtteri Bottas beat us to the punch with a brief, humorous explanation of the summer break.
After 14 Grands Prix packed into just over six months, it’s time for Formula 1 to take a break and recharge. Drivers and teams can now enjoy a well-deserved holiday before the season resumes at the end of August with the Dutch Grand Prix.
Factories shut down, drivers head off on holiday — it’s all part of the Formula 1 summer tradition. Even though this season’s break is shorter than usual, the same rules still apply.
