Honda will be leaving Formula 1 at the end of 2021. Nevertheless the Honda engine will remain in the back of the cars of AlphaTauri and Red Bull Racing, but under the name of Red Bull. It is causing mixed feelings at Honda.
From 2022 Red Bull will build its own engine. It will do this based on the engine from Honda, and with the engine development frozen, Red Bull will not have to continue working on the engine itself. Honda is leaving and will no longer be a name to be seen in the sport, but the new Red Bull engine will still be theirs.

Honda no longer in F1

''Personally, I am very happy that next year there is at least something in Formula 1 that we have created. As Honda, we want to support Red Bull with a good engine that allows them to compete for the world title. If we could make that happen, that would be great,'' Masashi Yamamoto told Motorsportweek.com.
''There will be no Honda logo on the car or the engine though, so that's going to cause some mixed feelings. You can still see that the car has a Honda engine. The heart of the car is a Honda engine, but it is not really a Honda anymore,'' concludes Yamamoto.
