Brendon Hartley's Formula 1 team were hit by almost $4m in damages to their cars in 2018, with the Kiwi driver involved in the majority of their crashes.
Toro Rosso team boss Franz Tost revealed the cost of the crashes as he reflected on a difficult season that resulted in Hartley losing his job.
"We have had far too many serious crashes, and we spent just over € 2.3 million as a result of those crashes," Tost told autobahn.eu.
"We had the crash of Hartley with Lance Stroll in Canada and his heavy blow during the free practice at Silverstone due to a suspension problem, and in Monza, he was still hit by Stoffel Vandoorne and Marcus Ericsson, which was not really good."
Hartley is yet to announce his plans for the future but believes that he still has a chance of competing in Formula 1.

"I'm now in a position where I have a Super license, I have hands-on Formula 1 experience, I definitely didn't disgrace myself and I definitely wouldn't say that door is closed."
