Lewis Hamilton suggests
Daniel Ricciardo should stay at Red Bull because they will eventually have an engine to compete consistently with Mercedes and Ferrari.
The Australian is yet to sign a contract for the 2019 season. Rumours have suggested Ferrari are interested in Ricciardo’s talents.
“He is one of the top drivers and in the top areas there are only Ferrari and Mercedes he could ever consider. But that is unlikely, and I don’t think that is going to happen,” said Lewis.
Perhaps Hamilton is setting his sights on where he wants his rivals to be next season, but he goes onto suggest Ricciardo should aim to match Verstappen’s wage bill.
“From what I hear, he has a team-mate who is making a lot more money than him, yet he is more consistent at keeping the car together.
“At some stage, Red Bull are going to get an engine and then they will be even closer in the mix with us. He just needs to keep his head down,” added Hamilton.
