Pirelli have revealed their brand new hypersoft tyre performed exactly how they wanted it to in Monaco. It helped drivers to smash both track records and lap records.
The hypersoft tyre was perhaps more durable than many expected. Pierre Gasly managed to get 37 laps out of the pink side-walled tyre.
Mario Isola believes the tyre increased the number of strategies available to teams and drivers across the paddock.
“We saw a much more mixed blend of strategies in Monaco than we have witnessed in previous years, fulfilling the role that we hoped the new hypersoft would play,” claimed Isola.
“The result was the fastest lap time ever seen at Monaco, thanks also to a tyre that the drivers enjoyed using both in qualifying and the Grand Prix.”
There’s good news for all those who loved the new tyre! It’ll be shipped over to Canada in time for the
Canadian Grand Prix in less than two weeks time!
