Stoffel Vandroone claims he isn’t worried about losing his seat at
McLaren despite troubling performances. Lando Norris is currently rumoured to be joining McLaren’s F1 driver lineup next season.
Fernando Alonso has scored 24 more points than the Belgian driver. Monaco was the first time this season Vandoorne beat his team-mate after the two-time World Champion retired.
“I have a long agreement with McLaren, so I’m not worried at all. I’m especially ready for the day when I can race with a competitive car,” claims Vandoorne.
It’s not easy for Stoffel whose fighting against a team-mate who has the experience and history of Alonso. He goes on to confirm Alonso gets all the new parts but it doesn’t affect their relationship.
“He sometimes gets a few newer parts, yes, but it doesn’t matter much. There’s nothing wrong with us,” added the 26-year-old.
“I think I’m still the future of the team, I don’t really see anyone else. With Lando Norris, it’s too early to talk about that. I’m concentrating on myself.
Norris featured in the post-Spanish Grand Prix test. He got his McLaren car third fastest whilst Vandoorne came 10th, almost 2 seconds behind. Whilst it’s not clear what fuel loads the pair were running, it’s really something Vandoorne should be worried about!
