Hamilton takes rookie Colapinto under his wing in 'special' experience for Alpine driver

Max Verstappen flies in his private jet all over the world, but not all F1 drivers can afford that luxury yet. Franco Colapinto, at the beginning of this season still a reserve at Alpine, flew last week for the first time on a private jet. It was offered to him by Lewis Hamilton. The seven-time Formula 1 world champion has recently been busy promoting the 'F1' movie in New York and London.

"We had a bit of a chat, and I asked if someone was going to London. And he said, 'I'm going to London, but in EasyJet, so I can't really help you.' And then he came back saying that he had a lot of space in the plane and he invited me to go," Colapinto revealed in an interview with GPblog in Austria.

Franco Colapinto will be looking to score his first points of the 2025 Formula 1 season at the Austrian Grand Prix this weekend. Fellow rookie, Oliver Bearman, jumped to defend four time champ Max Verstappen as the Dutchman teeters on the edge of a race ban.
