Hamilton shrugs: 'It is unacceptable, cowardly and misguiding'

Lewis Hamilton is busy preparing for the Hungarian Grand Prix. However, it doesn't mean the Englishman doesn't have time to show support for the LGBTQ+ community.

The driver currently second in the world championship has openly expressed his distaste on social media for the new legislation in Hungary, with which the government is restricting the freedom of people within the LGBTQ+ community. "To all in this beautiful country Hungary. Ahead of the Grand Prix this weekend, I want to share my support for those affected by the goverments' anti-LGBTQ+ law. It is unacceptable, cowardly and misguiding for those in power suggest such a law," Hamilton wrote.

The driver is therefore calling on the country to get behind the community. "Everyone deserves to have the freedom to be themselves, no matter who they love or how they identify. I urge the people of Hungary to vote in the upcoming referendum to protect the right of the LGBTQ+ community, they need our support more than ever. Please show love for those around you because love will always win."

Hamilton is currently eight points behind rival Max Verstappen and has one more race to make up for this prior to the summer break. The seven-time world champion has won the race in Hungary for the last three years.
