Lewis Hamilton will start second for Sunday's British Grand Prix, a race he has won eight times. He starts behind his teammate George Russell, who is looking for his third F1 win, and first at home. The two Mercedes drivers are set to work together to keep Lando Norris and Max Verstappen behind, but for Hamilton a record-breaking ninth win is on the cards.
Sunday's British Grand Prix is the first time in history that three British drivers have started in the top three at Silverstone. Both drivers agreed how special it was to be at the front of the grid when speaking at the Drivers Parade on Sunday, "So, so proud to be up there with George, to have three Brits in the top three. We'll try and make sure we pull through today," Hamilton said. The seven-time world champion was then asked whether a ninth win at home could be possible: "We hope so," he replied. "It's going to be tough. I think the two guys behind us are very fast. We don't really know what their race pace is going to be like, but we're going to work as a team and hopefully see if we can try and stay ahead of them."

Can Mercedes win at Silverstone?

Nevertheless, Russell also has his eyes set on a win, which would make it his first race win at home. "Teamwork makes the dream work," Russell joked. "As Lewis said, the guys behind us are really, really quicky. We're going to try and work together and bring home a good result. It's not going to be easy, but hopefully the rain stays away, we can have a clean race and see what we can achieve."
