Lewis Hamilton is gearing up for his second home weekend at Silverstone as a Ferrari driver, reflecting on what it means to race in front of his home crowd while also taking stock of Ferrari's season so far. Speaking ahead of the
British Grand Prix, the seven-time world champion described Silverstone as one of the most demanding and rewarding circuits on the
Formula 1 calendar. Hamilton highlighted the challenge of its high-speed corners, where drivers carry significant speed through rapid changes of direction, while also stressing that the atmosphere created by the fans makes the event unlike any other on the schedule.
“There is nowhere quite like Silverstone. It’s one of the fastest and most demanding circuits on the calendar, and those high-speed sections, especially Maggotts, Becketts and Copse are a real test because you’re carrying so much speed with the car fully loaded through every change of direction. There aren’t many places in circuits that challenge you in quite the same way. It’s not just the layout that makes it special. More than anything, it’s the atmosphere. The support here is always incredible, and you can genuinely feel that energy when you’re out on track, it adds something extra to the whole experience.”
Hamilton also reflected on Ferrari's progress this season, insisting there are no quick solutions in Formula 1 and that success is built through continuous improvement. The Briton praised the commitment and teamwork he has witnessed since joining the Scuderia, expressing confidence in the work being done at Maranello and stressing that the focus remains on making steady progress, improving consistency and maximising every race weekend.
“There’s no magic fix in racing. It’s a lot of small steps, built through months of hard work, commitment and belief from everyone involved – and that’s what I’ve been seeing at Ferrari. I’m proud of this team and the journey we’re on together. I’ve seen a group of people who are committed, hardworking and really collaborative, and that gives me a lot of confidence, knowing everyone is working tirelessly back at Maranello and between races. Now it’s about continuing to build, finding consistency and getting the most out of every weekend.”
Hamilton to revive iconic yellow theme for Silverstone weekend
The seven-time world champion will race his home Grand Prix at Silverstone with a special colour scheme,
adding yellow gloves, boots and a matching cap to complement the yellow helmet design he brought back after joining Ferrari. While he had already introduced yellow gloves and boots last season, this will be the first time the colour also features on his cap.
The Ferrari driver wanted to make yellow a more prominent part of his overall look for the British Grand Prix, describing it as an important part of his personal identity. At the same time, he believes the colour also works well alongside Ferrari's colours, allowing him to celebrate both his heritage and his new chapter with the Italian team.
"We got the British Grand Prix, and obviously, when I joined Ferrari, I went back to my yellow helmet colour. And so, up until now, I've had a red cap, and I really wanted to find a way of incorporating the yellow back into some of the elements like my gloves and particularly my cap. Which, yes, last year we did a yellow gloves and a yellow boot. But we hadn't done a cap yet. I thought this would be a great celebration of my heritage, which is yellow and it also is the same for Ferrari."
