Lewis Hamilton’s sensational performance at the Barcelona Grand Prix has continued to dominate headlines, with the international media captivated by the seven-time world champion’s breakthrough victory in Ferrari colours.
Having qualified on the front row, Hamilton delivered a masterclass in race management, executing both his strategy and pit stops to perfection on his way to securing his maiden victory for the Maranello-based outfit. A virtual safety car, triggered by Fernando Alonso’s retirement, proved pivotal, allowing Hamilton to make the overcut work and wrest victory away from George Russell, whose Mercedes had looked untouchable for much of the weekend.
The triumph ended Hamilton’s 686-day wait for a Grand Prix victory and sparked widespread acclaim from newspapers and publications across Europe, many of which hailed the 41-year-old’s remarkable achievement with Ferrari.

Marca hails Hamilton's return

Spanish newspaper Marca left little doubt about its verdict, boldly declaring: "Hamilton is back." The publication reflected on how many had written the Briton off before he produced a vintage display at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
"Lewis Hamilton is back.” When some had already written him off. When he seemed further than ever from writing another historic chapter in Formula 1 history in the colours of Scuderia Ferrari. When nobody appeared capable of challenging Mercedes.”
"But at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, the seven-time world champion rediscovered his old magic and wrote one of the most beautiful chapters of his career on the demanding Montmeló circuit. The one that ended his curse and delivered his 106th victory. The one Ferrari desperately needed after more than a year without standing on the top step of the podium. And the one that confirms him as the undisputed king of the Catalan circuit, with seven wins."

Corriere dello Sport's praise for Hamilton

Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport was slightly more measured in its assessment, although it still reserved glowing praise for Hamilton while also acknowledging the disappointment of home favourite Kimi Antonelli, whose race ended prematurely.
"Hamilton is finally back. What a show in Barcelona. His first victory with Ferrari feels like a dream. King Lewis triumphs ahead of George Russell. A disastrous finale for Antonelli."

Motorsport-Total: 'He's still got it'

German publication Motorsport-Total focused on Hamilton silencing his doubters, leading with the headline: "He's still got it." The outlet viewed the victory as further proof that the British driver remains capable of delivering at the highest level despite the scrutiny surrounding his Ferrari move.
"He's still got it! Lewis Hamilton underlined the strong form he has shown in recent weeks and celebrated his first victory for Ferrari in the Formula 1 race in Barcelona. For the seven-time world champion, it was only his third victory in the last four and a half years and his first since Belgium 2024."
