Hamilton believes Mercedes victory is close: 'I think we can close the gap'

Mercedes has come a long way since its difficult start to the 2022 season. Improvements are now clearly visible, but the German racing team is not there yet. Yet Lewis Hamilton believes that the first victory of the season is near.

In the press conference, Hamilton discusses the progress his team has made in the last few races and the hope he derives from it. "I do think [a win] is close," the Brit said during the press conference on Sky Sports. "We have been improving and had consistency over recent races."

Moreover, he praises the growth his team has experienced during the current Formula One season. "Great progress the team is making. The car is becoming more of a racing car which isn't what it was at the beginning of the year," the Mercedes driver continued. "The last race was the best showing that we've had so far and that for us was a huge boost. It will continue to be tough, but I do believe we can close the gap."
