McLaren unveiled their MCL34 earlier today and Gil de Ferran took this as an opportunity to outline to objectives and goals of the upcoming season. McLaren have brought in two new drivers in Carlos Sainz and Lando Norris and have also changed management for the 2019 season. Andreas Seidl has joined the setup and James Key, who joins from Toro Rosso, is due to start soon.
"The feeling within the team is incredible. There is a lot of excitement and anticipation," sporting director Gil de Ferran said to the BBC.
"If I cast my mind back six months to when I joined the team and being in the trenches and now seeing the car in its full glory is an incredible feeling. It is a beautiful piece of art. It depicts very well all the capabilities McLaren has in terms of craftsmanship and engineering.
"The way we tackled it was to recognise all the challenges we had and to continue to do that, and the way to do that is to focus on the job at hand.
"We focused a lot on our preparations towards this year, so I think we're ready."
