Gasly: "I didn't realize I was that quick"

Pierre Gasly has said that he "didn't realize" he was as quick as he was, as the Frenchman climbed to P7 after starting the Monaco Grand Prix in tenth.

It's been a good weekend for the French, as both Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly had stand-out performances in Monaco, which could somewhat be considered as their home country.

"It was an amazing race today," Gasly told Channel 4 after the race was said and done.

Toro Rosso opted to keep Gasly out for a very long time on the hypersofts. The Frenchman stood his ground more than well on the worn tyres, which meant that he found himself all the way up in P7 when he emerged from the pit lane.
