After the
Mercedes drivers dominated Friday's session with
Lewis Hamilton and
Valtteri Bottas setting the fastest time in both free practice sessions in third and second place respectively, it was
Red Bull Racing who did better in the third free practice session.
With a time of 1:28.100, Verstappen was the fastest man on track during FP3. Hamilton had to concede two tenths to the Dutchman, but set the second fastest time of the session. Red Bull has clearly found the speed since Friday, because
Sergio Perez does good business with a third place. With Yuki Tsunoda (fourth) and
Pierre Gasly (fifth) also in the top five Honda can be proud of its results.
With the top five within six tenths, Bottas is disappointing during FP3. The Finn has to concede more than nine tenths to Verstappen. Ferrari, with
Charles Leclerc and
Carlos Sainz, are the best of the rest on the timesheet at just over a second.
Esteban Ocon and
Lando Norris complete the top ten.
