Full results FP1 Miami | Mercedes fastest, Verstappen P4 behind Leclerc

Mercedes opened the Formula 1 weekend in Miami strongly by taking the first two spots with George Russell and Lewis Hamilton respectively. Max Verstappen set the tone throughout the session but had to concede to the Mercedes drivers and Charles Leclerc in the final minutes.

Russell and Hamilton had a largely colourless session but saved the best for last by going out on the softs just before the end. The Mercedes drivers managed to improve on Verstappen's time and Leclerc also dipped below in the final moments. This pushed the Dutchman through to fourth place.

For Sergio Perez, the weekend started more laboriously than for his teammate. The Mexican finished the first free practice session in 11th place, conceding a full second to Verstappen.
