Ferrari team boss Fred Vasseur is looking forward to the Canadian Grand Prix. The Frenchman hopes his racing stable can aim high in Montreal. He draws hope from previous results in North America, he told a Ferrari press release.
"We come to Canada knowing that there is still room for improvement in terms of race pace with the SF-23," stated Vasseur, who makes no bones about it. And he is right. Under the Spanish sun, Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz managed to secure a spot on the front row of the grid during qualifying. In the race, however, the Spaniard fell way back. He finished in fifth place. At least it was better than teammate Charles Leclerc. From P19, the Monegasque got no further than 11th place.

For the Tifosi

Nevertheless, the team boss thinks the updates the team brought to Barcelona helped, as "the car behaved more consistently." Vasseur hopes the Italians can show similar speed over Montreal's semi-street circuit as they did last year. Carlos Sainz then finished second, behind Max Verstappen. But Leclerc also came out well. From behind, he worked his way up to fifth place. "Ferrari has always enjoyed plenty of support in Canada and we hope to deliver a strong performance for our tifosi this weekend," Vasseur concluded.
