Since Alpine announced Franco Colapinto as one of its reserve drivers, Jack Doohan has faced a wave of criticism from Argentine fans. Social media posts from Alpine and Doohan have been flooded with negative comments, with the Australian driver—who is also Pierre Gasly's teammate—becoming a target. Meanwhile, Colapinto's manager has been actively engaged in the conversation.
For months, Colapinto's fans have been relentlessly targeting Doohan, even going as far as wishing for him to get injured so their countryman could take his place. Alpine’s social media team has reportedly had to remove posts multiple times due to an overwhelming number of insults directed at Doohan.

Colapinto fans urged to stop 'abuse'

For the first time, someone from Colapinto’s camp has responded to the ongoing controversy. On X, Jamie Campbell-Walter, manager of the Alpine reserve driver, reacted to an article from an Argentine media outlet, urging fans to support Alpine and Doohan rather than resorting to insults.
"Well said! The haters who think they help Franco. You are doing him more harm than good. Insults to the team, to Jack and sometimes to other supporters of Alpine. Franco and all of us who support him are fans of the whole team, Pierre and Jack. Conduct yourselves with passion but not abuse and arrogance. Franco’s time will come but not like this, you will achieve the opposite."
