Formula 1 reports death of former driver again

The Formula 1 world bids farewell to Philippe Streiff. The Frenchman died on Friday 23 December at the age of 67. Earlier this month, the same news came out about his compatriot and two-time world champion Patrick Tambay.

Streiff competed in Formula 1 for several seasons in the 1980s. From 1984, the former driver drove for Renault, Ligier, Tyrrell and AGS, where he made a good impression. However, his career was limited to the end of the 1988 racing year.

At the beginning of 1989, Streiff experienced a serious accident during winter testing. The crash happened on 15 March 1989 and left the driver partially paralysed for the rest of his life. Moreover, he had to kiss his Formula 1 career goodbye.

His 1985 performance in Australia was the highlight of his career. At the time, Streiff managed to finish third, giving him a one-off podium finish. Keke Rosberg and Jacques Laffite were also among the first three drivers.
