Diversity is currently a major theme at companies and organizations around the world. Not only in terms of cultural background and origin, women also have a smaller share in certain positions than men. The FIA wants to influence these figures by introducing a women's quota.

FIA wants more diversity

More and more companies are doing it: They come with a minimum number of women who must hold certain positions. However, this triggers discussions. After all, the starting point is more equality, but does that still apply when a quota is introduced?
During the annual FIA General Assembly, a number of changes were announced, including an obligation to appoint more women to the World Motor Sport Council and the Senate. For example, the WMSC must appoint a minimum of three members of each gender. Currently, the WMSC consists of 26 men and 2 women.
Also the Senate, which operates under the WMSC, must ensure that more women are involved in the organization. The Senate consists of 16 members, of which at least 4 must be women from now on.
