Lewis Hamilton’s quest for his eighth world championship could be reignited following a recent report surrounding Scuderia Ferrari’s 2026 car development. The British driver has endured a start far from what many envisioned since his switch to the Italian outfit.
The former Mercedes driver, who joined Ferrari ahead of the 2024 season, has largely had to adjust to the SF-25 machinery — a car which currently appears more suited to the demands of teammate Charles Leclerc. However, with the mid-season break now in full swing and teams shifting focus to their respective 2026 cars, a fresh report regarding Ferrari’s plans has surfaced, offering Hamilton renewed hope for the upcoming season.

According to a report from Italian outlet Formula Passion, the Maranello-based outfit are looking to develop their 2026 car in a direction that favours Lewis Hamilton’s driving preferences. The report also highlights that although the challenger is not expected to be fully tailored solely for Hamilton, it will likely be designed to better suit the seven-time world champion compared to the 2025 car.

It adds that while both Hamilton and Leclerc lean toward an understeery car setup, the seven-time champion prefers to have a little more rear load on his car compared to the Monegasque.
So far, Hamilton has endured a torrid start to life at Ferrari. During the last race at the Hungarian Grand Prix, the 40-year-old even dubbed himself ‘useless’ following an underwhelming qualifying performance.
