Former F1 driver Timo Glock believes Ferrari need to issue orders to stop drivers Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc from battling one another after several close calls in the opening races of 2026. At the Chinese Grand Prix, the pair were locked in a thrilling battle across multiple laps for the final podium position, with overtakes in unusual zones and several close calls before Hamilton took home P3 for the first time in Ferrari red.
Last weekend at Suzuka, while not quite as intense, Hamilton and Leclerc were again wheel-to-wheel at one stage, with the Monegasque this time ending up on the podium in P3.
Former Toyata driver Glock believes such battles are hurting the Scuderia's championship chances, and has urged Ferrari to "take a stand" before any potential incident between the pair.

Speaking to Sky Deutschland, Glock said: "The line should be drawn very clearly as soon as the team experiences a disadvantage.
"If the two get in each other's way and lose battery power, and the team ends up losing positions because of that, then the team management has to intervene."
The German, who played such an influential role in Hamilton's maiden F1 world championship win in Brazil 2008, also reflected on the Briton's turnaround this year with Ferrari.
"Leclerc is still just a bit more consistently fast, but Hamilton is clearly back at the level where we all want to see him - he has confidence and fun in racing," Glock concluded.
FIA urged to take action after Norris’ ‘accidental’ overtake on Hamilton in Suzuka
Ultimately, Hamilton finished sixth in Suzuka, having been overtaken by George Russell and Lando Norris in the latter stages of the race.
Notably, Norris later revealed that his McLaren MCL40 had taken P5 off Hamilton without his input, citing an unwanted battery deployment as the reason he got past the seven-time world champion.
Following that revelation, as well as Ollie Bearman's big crash at Suzuka,
former F1 driver and Sky Sports pundit Martin Brundle has called for the FIA to take action before the next Grand Prix in Miami in order to avoid more dangerous incidents related to energy deployment.
