Ferrari Executive Chairman John Elkann commented on the news of Frederic Vasseur’s contract renewal, confirming that he will continue to lead the team through 2026 — the year when new technical regulations will debut and the Maranello team will be tasked with delivering a winning car design.
Shortly before the start of FP1—which saw the usual McLaren dominance but with an impressive Charles Leclerc in pursuit—Ferrari’s Executive Chairman John Elkann expressed his appreciation for Frederic Vasseur, who recently secured a multi-year contract extension with the Maranello team.

Elkann pleased with Vasseur’s contract renewal

''(Fred) has led and helped Ferrari make progress over these years,'' Elkann said this to Sky Sports Italy when asked to comment on the contract renewal of the Draveil-based manager.
''We finished second and were close to winning the Constructors’ Championship. This year, we are again second.''
He then added: ''It’s important to strengthen when someone is making progress. The value of working with Fred lies precisely in the desire to keep going and constantly improve. That’s the spirit.''
''When someone is on an upward trajectory, it’s crucial not only to provide stability but also to give the confidence needed to achieve even more.''
Finally, commenting on Ferrari’s season so far, Elkann acknowledged the challenges faced but also emphasized the strong desire to improve: "Undoubtedly, the first part of the season has been challenging. It’s important to understand where improvements can be made, and I’m convinced that these lessons are valuable.''
''Above all, at Ferrari, the individual isn’t the decisive factor. There are many exceptional individuals in their own right, but only when they work well together with coordination and cohesion do we achieve great things.''
''We’ve proven this throughout our history, most recently with the Le Mans victory. The most important thing is to never lose the desire to win — that must always remain constant."
